Morph - Stretchable, Bendable Electronics

Nokia Research and University of Cambridge announced "Morph" in the "Design of the Elastic Mind" exhibition. Morph is based on nano technology and allows electronics to be translucent. They can also be bent and stretched to different shapes. The pictures in the articles show a mobile phone being rolled on to an attractive bracelet. The article mentioned that portions of this technology will be rolled out in Nokia high end phones in as early as seven years.

Flexible circuits have been in use in places where space is at a premium. Circuits can be made stretchable by embedding them in stretchable materials like polyurethanes. Traditional components can be used, the challenge is to make interconnections also stretchable.
